Hauntings of Memories Past - Rockman X4
by Repliroid20XX

If you haven't played this game, then, quite obviously, you've been living under a rock, man [/joke]...

The first X game to debut onto the good old PlayStation, X4 was a significant step into the series. It was the first game to feature Zero as a full-blown playable character (But of course, X was there too). The game ventured into a more different gameplay range than the last three installments of the Rockman X series. This game also featured beautifully done FMV sequences, including a video detailing how Zero and Sigma first met, in rather unfortunate circumstances.

Characters:

X - The hero. He fights for peace as an Irregular Hunter.

Zero - Another Hunter, he fights with X to stop the Irregular threat. He seems to like Iris.

Double - X's Navigator at the Hunter HQ. Kinda goofy, he seems kinda strange.

Iris - Colonel's sister, she is Zero's Navigator. She seems to like Zero, and does not like fighting.

Colonel - The, uh, Colonel of the Repliforce. He is Iris' sister, and would hate to see anything bad happen to her. He has great pride in the Repliforce.

General - Ugh, not again... The General of the Repliforce. He also keeps great pride in Repliforce, and wishes to create a utopia for Repliroids in the heart of space.

?? - He wishes to destroy the Repliforce and the Irregular Hunters in one fell swoop.

The story goes as such: The Repliforce, an army to parallel the Irregular Hunters (Maverick Hunters) was created. But unknown to them, they would fall later on, by the name of a villain who shall remain nameless. At the Sky Lagoon, someone had blown the generator, and the Repliforce was put under the blame. Also, a Repliforce satelite weapon has been constructed in the concerns of safety.

In this game, there are (once again) eight stages to defeat, with their guardians consisting of shamed Repliforce unit leaders and of Irregulars: Web Spidus, Cyber Kujacker, Magmard Dragoon, Storm Fukuroul, Frost Kibatodos, Split Mushroom, Jet Stingren and Slash Beastleo. After defeating the eight Irregulars, our heroes rush to the spaceport, and end up fighting Colonel, killing him.

Then comes the final stages, in which X will need to fight Double, and kill him. Unfortunately for Zero, Iris didn't take well to Colonel dying, took his data and merged it with herself. Zero was forced to fight her. Harsh, eh? After being forced to defeat Iris, it was revealed that she couldn't take the data and maintain it, and died (much to Zero's dismay). This is why Zero is so harsh later on, folks. Also, General is confronted. He fights X and Zero in a stream of pride, and loses. The heroes progress onward.

After yet another stage, X and Zero are interupted by Sigma (Yes, Sigma! As if he was gone last time...). Yada yada, Sigma defeated once more, saved the world again.

Overall, a great game. It is actually my favourite, so if you havn't played this game as of yet, get to it, before it's too late.
