Due for release in Japan in 2010, The Last Story is a RPG from Mistwalker on the Nintendo Wii which takes on a new direction for the genre. The theme of the game involves the universal feelings all of humanity shares.

Apparently, this game has been in the works since the FF6/7 era as numerous working prototypes by Sakaguchi & crew. The recent news however has pegged it as being a very big deal from Mistwalker studio.

Why do all RPGs from Japan seem to have that style for their logo? Have they had psychologists examine it and determine it to be most efficient or something?

There's also Xenoblade set for Wii as well, which I guess should get its own thread.

Anyhow, knowing Mistwalker is working on this piques my attention.

I like the title in Japanese under the line, just like in all the FF logos. Pretty cool though.

Do the damn thing, Gooch. Hopefully, this game may be the one that finally gives you and your studio its "voice".

But in any case, I must say, yesterday was practically better than most E3s and TGSs in the last few years!

Mikami's game, even though it was just a teaser, had me hyped from the start of the day, and various other things came along and kept me there.

The artwork for this so far is definitely breathtaking, and the music on the site is also very nice.

The scenery art gives me a vibe of exploration, like a new world/continent is being discovered and going to be colonized. Among the obligatory lost-civilizationesque ruins that are an RPG standard, anyways.

Sadly, it's not enough for me to make a decision. I'd like information on gameplay and plot before I have a good first impression of the game.

Edit: And what ^ said; I'd like to know what information the site's actually giving us, but I don't understand Japanese.
